SmartProtect : 4th General Assembly
Among the topics of the General Assembly : the Innovation Rally and a focus on what technologies are available for vegetable crops
AREFLH is a partner of the SmartProtect* EU project : SMART agriculture for innovative vegetable crop PROTECTion: harnessing advanced methodologies and technologies
The fourth General Assembly of SmartProtect was held from 22 to 24 of November 2022 in Oeiras in Portugal.
The goal of the meetin was to provide a general overview of the activities carried out in the past thirty-five months of the project as well as to plan and validate the activities for the remaining months.
During one of the meetings the participants prepared the factsheet regarding the vegetable crops: onions, carrots, brassica, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. These fact sheets inform European farmers and agronomists on what technologies are available for their crops and, where possible, how the technology is relevant to that specific crop. The factsheets will be available on the website of the project under "Vegetable IPM" (Integrate Pest management).
The project partners also discussed in detail the remaining activities of the project such as the knowledge exchange activities that will be mainly carried out through the workshops, seminars, training sessions and open days.
AREFLH will organize at the begining of April the training activities addressed to our members and network.
Furthermore, during the General assembly, the consortium prepared an Innovation Rally, an event that will be held from 24-27 of January 2023 a the IPM Essen, in Germany. IPM ESSEN is the world leading trade faire for the horticulture.
Lastly, one session of the General Assembly was dedicated to communication and dissemination, with the goal to give even more visibility to the results achieved so far in the project. The consortium also wished to disseminate better the IPM-related information which will be available on the website of the project.
* SmartProtect is a thematic network focusing on cross-regional knowledge sharing of SMART IPM solutions for farmers and advisors. The aim is to stimulate knowledge flow in the regional AKISs (Agriculture Knowledge and Innovation Systems) across the EU and connect these on the innovative potential of advanced methodologies for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in vegetable production, integrating precision farming technologies and data analytics.
