LOWINFOOD participated in the 2024 AIEAA Conference
Marco Nasso from UNITUS represented the project in Bari, Italy
AREFLH is a partner of LOWINFOOD, a project that focuses on “Multi-actor design of low-waste food value chains through the demonstration of innovative solutions to reduce food loss and waste”. LOWINFOOD supports the reduction of the loss and waste in the European Union by demonstrating innovative solutions following a multi-actor approach along the entire value chain.
UNITUS the Coordinator of the project participated in the 13th AIEAA Conference on 20 -21 June 2024 which was held in Bari, Italy. The AIEAA is the Associazione Italiana di Economia Agraria e Aplicata.
The theme of the 13th edition of the conference was “The social sustainability of European agriculture facing old and new challenges. Issues, methods, and policies". Marco Nasso from UNITUS contributed with a presentation titled “The adoption process of the digital platform to prevent food waste”. It presented the work carried out assessing the adoption process of the software to manage withdrawals of fruit & vegetables and donating them to charities developed by the government of the Emilia-Romagna Region in Italy. He highlighted several aspects of the research scope, and the research questions they work on.
This research contributes to the literature on agri-food supply chain management by demonstrating the effectiveness of digital innovations in enhancing sustainability and reducing food waste, offering insights for future policy development to encourage technological adoption within the sector.
