General Assembly of the SmartProtect project

The third General Assembly of SmartProtect for smart agriculture on vegetable crops was held from 23th to 25th February 2022 in Bordeaux

The third General Assembly of SmartProtect “SMART agriculture for innovative vegetable crop PROTECTion: harnessing advanced methodologies and technologies” was held from 23th to 25th February 2022 in Bordeaux – France in a face-to face format, after two years of videoconference meetings.

AREFLH is a partner of the project and has hosted this meeting.

SmartProtect is a thematic network focusing on cross-regional knowledge sharing of SMART IPM solutions for farmers and advisors.

The goal of the General Assembly was to provide a general overview of the activities carried out in the twenty-six months of the project following the report sent by the European Commission as well as to plan the and fixed the upcoming activities for the remaining months of the project.

During the meeting, activities related to the collection and the translation of the Integration pest management (IPM) technologies were discussed. More than 290 technologies have been collected only 199 of them have been inserted in the Platform of the project. The 199 technologies will be translated in the thirteen different languages that are the languages of the partners of the project.

 

The project partners discussed in detail the remaining activities such as the knowledge exchange activities that will be mainly carried out through the workshops, seminars, training sessions and open days. In addition, in the next months, different communication and dissemination activities are planned to give even more visibility to the results achieved so far in the project but also to disseminate information and material concerning IPM, which will be available on the website of the project.

The aim of the project is to stimulate knowledge flow in the regional AKISs (Agriculture Knowledge and Innovation Systems) across the EU and connect these on the innovative potential of advanced methodologies for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in vegetable production, integrating precision farming technologies and data analytics. SmartProtect is an EU funded project in the frame of the Horizon 2020 programme.
